Mapsource does this in the strictest sense, but it is quirky and too far different with it's user interface from other mapping programs that I feel I HAVE to use it rather than I WANT to use it. I WANT a PC software that works with my PND, I NEED a PC software that works with my PND. Mapsource in general is a good idea but it is not implemented very well and this latest version is another strike against it. They seem to make fairly good hardware and their firmware is adequate, but if they hope to maintain their prominence in the PND business, they had better step up a bit in the PC/MAC software category. Apparently writing PC software is not one of Garmin's core competencies. There is no way that this version should have been released in its present form. This latest release is a Beta version at best. This also makes one wonder what else is not right. In addition to the rubber band feature being broken, the issue with the icon size is further broken in that the help file indicates that the option to change the size of the icons should exist. WAY too much clicking and trying different spots on the route to get the rubber band going. It's fairly new and reasonable powerful.īut the rubber-banding is just plain broken. I don't mind the flags or larger icons, and the screen refresh is just fine on my laptop.
